Chapter 55

[AI ERROR / SAFETY BLOCK - RAW ENGLISH RETAINED]

Anna hesitated for almost twenty seconds before speaking. “You may choose whichever method you believe will be most accurate. You are the fortune teller, while I’m not. Of course, apart from cards. Tarot, for instance. I’ve even tried studying them at home, and they always felt more like toys or a game.”

Klein considered her words for a moment, his wrists resting on the edge of the table as his hands steepled before his face. Then he said softly, with a peaceful gaze, “Then we shall use the star chart.”

He pointed to a dip pen and a stack of white paper on the table. “Please write down your fiancé’s name, his external features, his address, and his date of birth. It would be even better if you could remember the specific time he was born.”

From her clothes, makeup, and demeanor, Klein trusted that she was literate. Without a word, Anna reached for a piece of paper, dipped the pen in ink, and began writing, pausing occasionally to think. Two minutes later, she pushed the paper toward Klein.

Klein turned the page around. The information read:

Joyce Meyer. DOB: September 15, 1323, 2:00PM. Tingen, Eastside, 8 Stevens Street. Short blond hair, aquiline nose...

With a brief glance, Klein quickly calculated her fiancé’s birthday number:

1+5=6

In mystical numerology, the single-digit sum of the day of birth was called the birthday number; it influenced the first twenty-seven years of life. The birth month number (calculated by adding the digits of the month) affected life from twenty-seven to fifty-four years old. Meanwhile, the birth year number (calculated by adding the digits of the year) affected life from fifty-four onward.

It was July 1349 today, so Joyce was not yet twenty-seven; thus, Klein immediately calculated his birthday number.

The number six signified a balanced and harmonious life, often with a decent, loving marriage or engagement. Next, he quickly computed Joyce’s personal year number. The personal year number was determined by replacing the birth year with the current year and then adding that result to the birthday and birth month numbers to gain insight into the person’s luck for the year.

1+3+4+9=17;

1+7=8;

8+9 (Birth Month Path Number)+6 (Birth Day Path Number)=23;

2+3=5.

Therefore, his personal year number is 5, signifying that he would meet with unexpected change and would need to take certain risks...

Klein silently judged the information and confirmed that Anna’s details were correct.

He retracted his gaze from the paper and turned it toward Anna. “Mr. Meyer set off for his journey on the third day of June?”

“If he did not lie, that is indeed the case,” Anna replied, biting her lip.

“All right.” Klein took the pen and made a note of that detail. Looking into Anna’s eyes with his dark brown gaze, he said gently, “I will begin drawing the star chart now. I’ll need some time and absolute silence. Would you mind waiting outside? Angelica will provide you with a cup of tea or coffee.”

“All right,” Anna said. Knowing that some fortune tellers had their eccentricities, she stood up without surprise. She took her cap with the light blue ribbon and left the Topaz Room.

Klein locked the door and returned to the table. Methodically, he set up the star chart using the dates and details Anna had given him. He included elements such as the horoscope and the positions of the corresponding planets and stars. Throughout the process, he rarely consulted the Astromancy Manual—completing the chart almost entirely from memory.

Over the past few days of his mysticism studies, Klein had discovered that he could quickly grasp new information about divination and turn it into instinct.

Perhaps that is the ability of a Seer...

Finally, he completed the star chart and felt a deep sense of satisfaction—as though his body, heart, and soul had relaxed considerably. As he examined the result, he followed the paths of the horoscopes and planets along with other supporting symbols, deducing roughly that Mr. Joyce Meyer would face misfortune—but ultimately, he would survive it.

At this point, the divination was technically complete. Yet, because this was his very first business transaction as a Seer, Klein placed great weight on its success. He hoped to build a solid reputation for future opportunities. So he picked up the pen again and wrote a statement in Hermes—the conclusion about Joyce Meyer’s current situation.

He read the sentence silently, repeating it in his mind several times to ensure its accuracy. After reciting it seven times, Klein leaned back in his chair, holding the paper.

Imagining a sphere of light, his eyes grew darker as he slipped quickly into a trance.

The surroundings took on an ethereal quality as a formless, boundless fog stretched above him. Klein once again recalled all the contents on the piece of paper, then relaxed and fell into a deep sleep. He was using a dream divination technique! By repeating the question and keeping the details in mind, he set his astral body free to roam the spirit plane in a dream to receive a revelation.

Ordinary people sometimes experienced such dreams, but their signs were often complicated and unclear, making recall upon waking difficult. A Seer, however, could see certain scenes with clarity. As Klein drifted between sleep and wakefulness, the surroundings blurred into hazy contours. In the contorted world of his dream, he saw a young blond man with an aquiline nose, swimming frantically in a sea of blood, nearly overwhelmed by crashing waves...but ultimately managing to escape to shore.

The image shattered and changed. Next, Klein saw a blue house with a small toy windmill in front of the door. That blond young man was walking slowly toward the house, his expression joyous. At that moment, the vision changed again, and Klein found himself inside a magnificent palace. Its walls were caved in and damaged beyond repair, with moss and weeds sprouting in multiple places. Through holes in the walls, he could glimpse distant mountain peaks and clouds nearly within reach.

At the very front of the palatial hall stood a giant stone throne adorned with gold and dull gemstones, as if not meant for a human. The throne was empty and mottled with marks, seemingly weathered by the tides of time.

Klein looked around in confusion, unable to understand why he was dreaming of such a scene. His turbid mind suddenly sharpened as he subconsciously walked out of the palace, attempting to ascertain where he was. Then he felt a gaze upon him—an intense, unnerving gaze coming from behind. Spinning around, he stared at the giant stone throne, only to see a writhing mass of countless translucent maggots slowly squirming and growing. Klein gasped and abruptly opened his eyes, waking from his dream.

The crystal ball, tarot cards, and the star chart filled his vision as reality swiftly replaced fantasy.The initial scenes in the dream were the result of the divination, but what was the later one about? It seemed to be targeted at me.
